Last years resolutions photoshoot (Live Gig)

This is a contact sheet of my narrowed down selection of images from my photoshoot at the Last Year resolutions Gig. I have done some minor editing to these images such as increasing the sharpenes of every image to create a crisper more sharp professional feel. I have also increased the contrast and brightness to bring the images to a suitable level and make them as visually stimulating and pleasing as possible. I have also created a monochromatic version of each of the images to allow me to have a choice within my final contents page to choose the most suitable images for the feel of my magazine. the monochromatic give a grittier more edgy feel to the images where as the full colour images feel more fun and possible fit better with the whole vibe which i have already created with the final front cover of my magazine.

I used my Cannon DSLR camera and occasionally used the flash. I then treated them within photoshop sharpening the images and increasing the vibarance on the coloured images to give them more collour variation an give the image more pop.

Here is a selection of my images. I have chosen to show some of the monotone edits and the full color ones to give a feel for the various styles.

front cover draft

This is the final design for my magazines front cover.

This is my final design for my front cover. I have chosen to use paint streakes instead of classic block boxes for the text. This is to give my fromt cover a more raw feel and create a more lively feeling front cover. This also fits into the idea of the splat used to advertise the competition. I have created the bands logo by scanning in real stamped labels to give the magazine a more pieced together collage feel for stylistic effect again adding to the lively feel of the cover.

Photo shoot for magazine

For the images used within my main feature story of the magazine, I chose to shoot my made up band in a photography studio against a white background. This gave me a huge amount of control and variation when it came to lighting as all the levels and type of light is completely  controllable though use of soft boxes and spot lights.

This is my collection of  unedited images from my photo shoot. i chose to have a verity of shots within the same location to allow my magazine to have a unifying set of images running throughout the main feature story whilst having the verity of positions. taking inspiration from the band '5 Seconds Of Summer i chose to have position the models in some shots as slightly comical to show how they have fun and in others i chose to have some more serious images to show the bands professional side.
This is an image of the lighting rig which i set up for my photo shoot. It consists of two soft box lights angled into the center and a spotlight centered directly in the middle to allow for a bright center of the image where the band will be centered and the soft box light the surroundings and backgrounds. to give a clear overall lite image. The infinity wall was used to give make it seem as if the band where within no space to allow for all the text to be placed around and not be interfere or have the eye of the reader follow any lines of a traditional room. These are known as leading lines which can distract from the subject of the image so the use of the infinity wall (wall with curved edges) to eliminate the rooms corners.
